"Okay. This is where we get them and call them out the Marketing Department on their bluff. There is absolutely no way that this remote is going to be programmed to control my TV, Cable + DVR, DVD Player, VCR and Audio Receiver in less than 5 minutes. In fact, I was so sure of this that I even went to the sports store to buy a stopwatch to prove them wrong. Well, I’m writing this with egg on my face because I programmed our remote to control all of the equipment mentioned above in just 2 minutes and 19 seconds – less than half the time promised – and I didn’t even read the directions… I must admit that I haven’t been this impressed by an affordable remote control since I reviewed the Harmony 688 from Intrigue (before they were purchased by Logitech). Like the original Harmony remotes the X10 iconRemote is truly revolutionary in its approach. It’s simply amazing what this remote is capable of without needing a PC."

"Well, I had more time last night to program our remote. Now it might be because I'm a newbie to a truly universal remote, but I think this thing is great. The features that didn't work on the TV and Audio modes can be programmed in learn mode. You just override the setting that was assigned by the default code to any key you want. As well, you can control other equipment when in a specific device. E.g. when I am watching a DVD, I programmed the Vol up, Vol dn, Mute for my reciever when in the DVD mode. This eliminates switching between devices to perform certain tasks. No lockups this time, I guess it must of been some combination of keycodes yesterday."

"There's no where to start. There is literally nothing I don't like about it. I had a home theater system with six (yes, count em' six) remotes on the table. I tried other Universal Remotes, but none had the speciality buttons I needed for certain functions. The biggest problem? My wife could not run it. I even had instructions printed out stating press this on remote 3 then this on remote 1 etc. But if she pressed the wrong button it was all over. She finally got upset with me and threatened to buy her own simple TV she could use. our remote changed all that. Now she presses HERS and most everything she wants is right there. If she wants to watch a movie, she presses Favorites then Movies and there are all the movie channels. I even used the Punchthrough option so she could turn the volume up or down regardless of which unit was selected. If you have more than one remote on your table, you need our remote!"

"Don't Waste Your Money - This remote is a huge disappointment. I can't believe all of the good reviews it's gotten. We have to replace the batteries every 2-3 weeks. We switched to Lithium batteries and they lasted 6 weeks. You shouldn't have to change batteries that often. The problem is the remote NEVER shuts off. When all devices are off, the LCD stays on. Customer support states that this is normal. Has nobody else encountered this problem or do they think it's normal to replace the batteries so often?? Also, every once in awhile the remote becomes unprogrammed and it needs to be refigured all over again. Very frustrating. We spent way too much money on this remote for the amount of problems we've had with it. Not a happy customer and I wish we could take it back."

"Didn't work with mt TV and DISH Network - I bought this remote to ease my life and it just made things more complicated! I figured for the price of the remote it would change my entertainment world!!! The remote would not work changing my TV between the different AV channels and would not control my DISH DVR! I would not recommend this product to any one with a Magnavox LCD and the DISH DVR!!!!"

"The programming UI is exasperating. It asks you for the precise model number of your equipment -- then even makes you double-check this (for no apparent reason) -- then (my failure rate was 50%) tells you it can't find the model number in its database. It then tries to program the unit by memorizing key presses from your existing remote -- except that the keys it asks for aren't even close to those on my remotes. Then it gives up. Turns out what you have to do is to ""guess"" at the ""generic"" product code for your equipment. Nowhere is there a list of the generic codes that it knows, so you can make an educated guess at what the generic code might be. No, instead it makes you guess and guess and guess until finally you may get lucky and stumble upon it."

"Good Start but not there yet - I have had the Harmony 670 for about a month. I can see where they are going with it but it definitely needs improvement to make it useful. The set up was not bad and it handled most of my hardware. It did not handle my RF direct-tv receiver and it could not get the line-in on my Sony vcr to work correctly. I have worked around both of these problems but the main difficulty with this unit lies in the overall design. The buttons are tiny and very close together. The button labels are nearly unreadable because the font is so small. My eyesight is not perfect but I have no problem reading the newspaper without glasses. To read the labels on the harmony I have to have full light and magnifier glasses. Every logiteck device I own has been a delight to use but this thing will probably end up in the closet before long. This is a classic case of function suffering for form."
